  • Blink your Eyes 

When you look constantly at the screen, you forget to blink your eyes. Blinking is essential to keep your eyes always moisturized and reduce dryness. Constantly blinking of the eyes is crucial to reduce the digital eye strain. Close your eyes for 2 seconds, open it, squeeze, and so on. Performing the activity will make your eyes feel better and reduce the chances of dry eye syndrome. 

  • Adjust the Brightness of the Screen 

The screen brightness should not be too bright as it causes glare nor should be dark that causes eye strain while using the laptop. You can use a white paper to adjust the brightness of your screen. Put the white paper parallel to the screen in normal light. Your screen brightness should match the white paper and meet the environment. 

  • Sit in a Good Posture

A good posture is very essential for the proper blood circulation to the brain to increase productivity. Keep your back straight always while sitting, hands should be at the level of the keyboard, and place your legs on the ground. It helps to keep your spine and neck relaxed. Proper distance from the screen should be there to keep your eyes healthy. 

  • Follow 20-20-20 Rule 

Looking at the screen for a long time makes your eyes tired. So, to help you relax your eyes, follow the 20-20-20 rule. The rule states that every 20 minutes take a break of 20 seconds. Walk around, do some stretching for the improvement of the posture, and give your body and mind a break. A 20-second break will give your eyes rest and it won’t feel sore. Do not use your mobile phone in the 20-second break. 

  • Stay Hydrated and Always Eat Healthily 

To take care of your eyes, one should eat food rich in Vitamin A, Beta Carotene, Vitamin C, E, Zinc, and other essential fatty acids. Eat healthy vegetables like spinach, carrots, and others that are good for the eyes. Eat walnuts and flax seeds that are also beneficial for the eyes. It is crucial to stay hydrated by drinking at least 2-3 liters of water a day. 

  • Do Cold Compression 

You should not rub your eyes as it feels itchy. Use ice packs or cold compression to get rid of the inflammation of the eyes. Take your ice pack and place it on the eye for 30 seconds. You can also use an eye drop to reduce inflammation and allergy in the eyes. 

  • Perform Eye Exercises 

Performing some simple eye exercises can be beneficial to relax your eyes and release all the strain. Some of the easy exercises are listed below- 

  • Palming: Rub your hands for a few seconds. Put the palm of your hands on the cheekbones and fingers on the eyes. This will give a calming effect on your eyes. Do this exercise after every online class. 
  • Pencil Push-Up: This exercise helps strengthen your eye muscles. You just have to look at the pencil tip for 20 seconds and bring it closer to your eyes and look at it again for more than 20 seconds. Slowly move it away from your eyes and repeat this for every 5 minutes. 
  • Eye Rotation Exercise: Once in a day, rotate your eyes in all directions. Move your eyes both clockwise and anti-clockwise.
